Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center

A Fab Lab is a digital fabrication laboratory for innovation and invention. It's a workshop for learning and innovation: a place to play, create, learn, mentor, invent. Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center is part of a global network of more than 500 Fab Labs. Fab Lab welcomes people at all levels of experience.

Equipment in the lab includes:

  • 3D printers
  • Laser cutters
  • Computers and software
  • ShopBot CNC milling machines
  • Video conference equipment
  • Electronics workbench equipment, including robotics
  • Mini-mill/3d scanner (2)
  • Sewing/embroidery machines
  • Projectors and documentation cameras

In the News

Carnegie Magazine article, Making the Difference, about how Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center has used the Mobile Fab Lab to engage nonsighted participants and has developed a new process for working with these students called Tactile Assisted Design (TAD).  Fab Lab CSC is the nationwide leader in this initiative.
